Great news! Legendary Los Angeles punk band X are on tour early this fall. The quartet is on the road opening for New York’s Blondie in the “No Principals Tour.”  It kicks off in Hampton Beach, N.H. on September 5th with stops in San Francisco, DC, Chicago, Atlanta , New York City, and more.

As a bonus for Blondie fans, with each ticket purchased, they’ll get five new songs from the band’s forthcoming album set to be released this fall.

To get in the spirit for this east and west coast tour combo, we’re featuring X’s  live rendition of  “Beyond and Back.” The original version was on their second album Wild Gift, released in 1981. The live version is taken from  the soundtrack to the film Urgh! A Music War, a British film released in 1982 with a smorgasbord of punk and new wave acts.

This version really showcases the one-of -kind interplay between vocalists Exene Cervenka and Jon Doe and the effortlessly cool guitar work of Billy Zoom and powerhouse drumming from DJ Bonebrake.

Tickets for the “No Principals Tour” go on sale tomorrow.

Pat Ferrise grew up loving ”the punk rock” and “new wave.” His years at one of the nation’s top college radio stations ultimately led him to a 15-year run as music director of alternative music icon WHFS Washington/Baltimore. Rolling Stone magazine named him of the most influential programmers of the 90s. He’s recorded two albums under the moniker Trampoline for the now defunct SpinArt label. He lives in Baltimore and takes no credit for writing this bio.
