Do you remember the British band Lush? The band whose soundscape treated onomatopoeia as its North Star? As you check out the latest release from the San Francisco band, Silver Swans, you may hear verdant melodies and electronic tones that are the offspring of that shoegazey dreampop that ruled the 90s underground. Perhaps this is what it feels like to be an uncle, for while I have no actual (parental) responsibility for this genre I still feel a familial connection that is strongly affectionate for the offspring of that oeuvre.
See Silver Swans this week at SXSW, performing tonight at the Karma Lounge.
