Edmonton’s Purity Ring will bring languid and danceable synthpop to the Coachella Valley this weekend, a much different scene for a band that normally performs in relatively small clubs. As brilliant desert sunshine bathes the Canadian duo and their self-made clothing, it will offer an interesting environment for a band whose darkly ambient melodies and electronic bursts more obviously fit into the shadows.
The 4AD band’s debut album, Shrines, was one of 2012’s standouts, earning critical praise and quickly building a fanbase across North America aided by constant touring. From that album, this is “Lofticries.”
