The East Coast has finally warmed up. Birds are chirping, eggs are hatching, and tree sperm is everywhere.
And so, it seems a perfect time for songs with a summery bent. On March 5th, Caitlin Rose released her second album, The Stand-In, on ATO Records. Her hook-laden track “Only a Clown,” seems appropriate background to warmer temperatures, picnics, and the wistful promise found only in the renewal of spring. That is…as long as that promise isn’t derailed by the disappointment inevitably found within the lyrics of a country song. At least we’ll have had that unfettered moment of beauty before Brood II unleashes their pestilence. Regardless of what happens…we’ll always have Paris.
