Promoting their latest in a series of comeback albums, Iggy and the Stooges paid a visit to the Colbert Report on Monday night, busting out the lead single, “Burn.” Written with Iggy’s on-again/off-again collaborator and guitar player James Williamson, this is vintage Stooge-ery, recalling the Funhouse formula, from the repetitive stoner guitar riff to the droning sax. It goes without saying that it’s certainly a bit odd, maybe even anachronistic to see a bunch of men in their mid-60s playing rock like, but frankly, there aren’t many 20-something bands who do it better.
