Avant-pop chanteuse Bjork showed up on the set of The Colbert Report last night to promote her new album, “Biophilia,” which she wrote entirely on a touch screen. In the first clip, Colbert demonstrates the album’s interactive capabilities and asks her her whether Icelanders actually believe in elves. (The answer: kind of.) In the second, Bjork is up to her old tricks. Namely, wearing what looks like an inflatable dress and an orange afro, she performs “Cosmogony”–another of her songs that asks the question: “If a song is ‘arty’ enough, can it transcend the notion of being ‘good’ or bad.’?” Backed by only a female chorus, a drummer who doesn’t drum much and a guy with a few iPads, the song meanders with little discernible melody.
