A collection of musicians with connections to Athens, GA, have released a song and video in response to plans for a new mixed-use development—anchored by Wal-Mart—on the eastern edge of downtown. Calling themselves Patterson Hood & the Downtown 13, the band includes R.E.M.’s Mike Mills, Widespread Panic’s John Bell and most of Hood’s Drive-By Truckers mates.
