This Friday commences the 2014 edition of the Coachella Music Festival, held annually (twice, the past few year) in Indio, California. And today marks our commencement of a series of Videos of the Day featuring bands performing at this year’s two identical iterations of the festival.
Wye Oak is one of those indie darling bands with desperately passionate followings in certain circles while laboring in complete anonymity in others. Sure to occupy an early afternoon slot this coming Friday, the Baltimore duo features Jenn Wasner‘s complex vocals and Andy Stack‘s metronomic time-keeping (with both drums and keyboard). They’re just the sort of band you want to see open up your Coachella experience, working you into the experience with songs that may start somewhat slow, but which end with fury and passion.
The band performed one of those songs, “Civilian,” during a 2011 visit to Seattle’s KEXP.
