This perhaps isn’t the best venue to jump up on a soapbox regarding the music business, but I think this bit of news merits a mention.
For a recent gig in London, the Pixies, along with a marketing firm, set up a one-time website and sold tickets directly to consumers. Ticket buyers printed their hard copy tickets, which had a bar code that staffers then scanned at the show. All tickets were the same price. No fees, no hidden charges, no middlemen.
