Roundup: Morello Appearing on New Bruce Disc

Longtime Bruce Springsteen manager Jon Landau has revealed that Tom Morello will make an appearance on The Boss’s forthcoming disc. Sources close to Bruce have already said the album would be intensely political. Which leads us to wonder: Springsteen’s most political tunes have been cloaked in narrative, with the lyrics telling compelling stories (“The River,” “Youngstown,” etc.). Does this mean he’s trading his scalpel for an axe?

Below, Springsteen and Morello on stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary show:

Speaking of axes, Black Sabbath will still play the Download Festival in the UK, despite guitarist Tony Iommi’s diagnosis with cancer. The band had to back out of a Coachella date.

LL Cool J has been announced as Grammys host.

British dance-poppers The Happy Mondays are getting back together.

Jay-Z has denied reports that being the father of a baby girl has him dropping the word “bitch” from his rap lexicon. We’re sure Blue Ivy will understand.

Merle Haggard has been hospitalized for a respiratory ailment.
