Matthew Caws (Nada Surf) and Juliana Hatfield (Blake Babies, The Lemonheads, Juliana Hatfield Three, etc.) have released a track from their upcoming album, Get There, out October 29th on Barsuk Records.

The duo split lead vocals and writing credit on the album’s eleven tracks, as well as providing most of the instrumentation. “Far From the Roses” is a power pop gem with indie inclinations that exists alongside some of the best work the pair produced separately in the 1990s.

They plan a quick tour of the States this fall:

November 08 – Seattle, WA – Neptune Theater (Barsuk Records 15th Anniversary Show)
November 09 – Portland, OR – Hawthorne Theatre
November11 – San Francisco, CA – The Independent
November 12 – Los Angeles, CA – Echoplex
November 14 – San Diego, CA – Soda Bar
November 16 – Minneapolis, MN – Cedar Cultural Center
November 17 – Chicago, IL – Schubas
November 19 – Washington, DC – Black Cat
November 20 – New York, NY – Bowery Ballroom
November 22 – Philadelphia, PA – World Café Live
November 23 – Boston, MA – Sinclair

Behrnsie has a love for music that dare not speak its name. He attends many shows and can often be found counting out the beats for no discernible reason. He played alto saxophone in his middle school jazz band, where he was best known for infuriating his instructor when it was revealed that he played everything by ear, and could not in fact read music. He takes great pride that this is the same talent/affliction that got Tori Amos kicked out of the Peabody Academy. He does not live in his parents’ basement….except during the holidays.
