It’s a Scottish invasion. Well maybe not invasion, but first Frightened Rabbit and now We Were Promised Jetpacks.  The 4-piece band are actually pals with FR and came to the attention of their label because of the band. Look for WWPJ to tour the states this fall in support of their second full release, “In the pit of our Stomachs”, due out October 4 and featuring the single  “Act on Impluse” .

The Drums are back, with Portamento, their second full length release due out September 5th. “Money” is the lead single from the Florida transplants, who are now based in Brooklyn.

“House,” the first single from “The Best Imitation of Myself: A Retrospective,” is one of three new Ben Folds Five tracks recorded in 2011 especially for this collection, marking the trio’s first official studio recordings of original material since 1999’s “The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner.” The other new BFF tracks — “Tell Me What I Did” and “Stumblin’ Home Winter Blues” — are available on the three-disc retrospective. “House” is streaming at nbc.com.

Pat Ferrise grew up loving ”the punk rock” and “new wave.” His years at one of the nation’s top college radio stations ultimately led him to a 15-year run as music director of alternative music icon WHFS Washington/Baltimore. Rolling Stone magazine named him of the most influential programmers of the 90s. He’s recorded two albums under the moniker Trampoline for the now defunct SpinArt label. He lives in Baltimore and takes no credit for writing this bio.
