Gish and Siamese Dream

Tuesday, November 29th, Smashing Pumpkins (AKA Billy Corgan) are releasing remastered versions of Gish and Siamese Dream. The re-releases also come in vinyl and enhanced editions complete with with several B sides, demos and concert DVD’s. From the band’s website, Billy Corgan has posted his thoughts on Siamese Dream:

In 1992, with the weight of a perceived world on our shoulders, we disappeared into a parking garage to write the songs that would change the course of our lives forever. ‘Siamese Dream’ represents all of our dreams coming true, while the dreams of a happy band fell apart.

As for Gish, it contains one my all time favorite Pumpkins songs, “I  am One” , showcasing Jimi Chamberlain’s powerful, distinctive style and a signature bass line from D’arcy.

Pat Ferrise grew up loving ”the punk rock” and “new wave.” His years at one of the nation’s top college radio stations ultimately led him to a 15-year run as music director of alternative music icon WHFS Washington/Baltimore. Rolling Stone magazine named him of the most influential programmers of the 90s. He’s recorded two albums under the moniker Trampoline for the now defunct SpinArt label. He lives in Baltimore and takes no credit for writing this bio.
